Appearance inspection: During the detailed appearance inspection of the endo camera, carried out in a rigid endoscope repair training ccordance with standard rigid endoscope repair training procedures, we observed normal wear and tear on the surface of the device, indicating long-term operation and friction during daily use. However, the cable section showed more serious deterioration, with visible signs of aging such as cracks in the outer jacket, color fading, and slight hardening. These issues are likely caused by prolonged exposure to harsh environments or frequent bending during clinical operation.
Fault detection: To further diagnose the malfunction, an on-machine functional test was conducted. During testing, when the camera-end cable was shaken or pulled, stripe interference and color distortion appeared on the monitor. This abnormal behavior indicates potential internal connection instability or signal transmission obstruction. As part of the standard inspection workflow, sealing integrity and related checks can also be verified using professional tools such as a Karl Storz leak tester, ensuring no hidden structural risks remain.
Cause of failure: After careful analysis and elimination of other possible factors, we determined that the root cause of the failure was poor contact of the signal line inside the cable. This poor contact may be caused by the aging of the cable, which leads to the breakage of the internal conductor or damage to the insulation layer, which in turn affects the stable transmission of the signal, and ultimately manifests as stripe interference and color cast problems on the screen.
Repair plan: Given the aging degree and internal damage of the cable, simple repair measures can no longer guarantee the long-term stable operation of the equipment. Therefore, we recommend a repair plan of replacing a new cable. The new cable will provide better signal transmission performance and reduce the risk of future failures caused by cable problems. During the replacement process, we will ensure that all connection points are properly handled and perform necessary tests to verify the repair effect.
